Once Upon A Sketch January challenge

Well, the hot weather seems to have returned here to Victoria - just in time for going back to school. DS is starting Year 12 this year and turns 18 at the end of the year.

I created this layout  for the Once Upon a Sketch January challenge., which was to use the sketch provided and to journal about lessons learnt. The biggest lesson I've had to learn is to let go and give my son some independence. Very hard to do but necessary as hopefully he will be off to university next year.

Things did not go as planned with this layout. I started off with some distress paint but it wasn’t coming out very well so I squeezed it. Unfortunately, I squeezed too hard and the top and half the contents came flying out all over my page. Luckily, I had my craft mat out so I scraped off as much as I could onto the craft mat and added some water and swiped this piece of cardstock over it. Ended up loving the look of it (probably more than my original would have looked like). Anyway I added a bit of texture using some Viva Decor graphite texture paste and Crafters Workshop little dots stencil and added a bit of stamping using a Kaisercraft background stamp.

Here are some close ups. I used a FWAB Luke Flourish in black and some FWAB adhesive black pearls on the cogs and key hole.

Dlish Scraps Jan Inspiration challenge

Thankfully back to cooler temperatures over the week and I managed to scrap. Yay!.

I really love the colours of this months Inspiration Board challenge at Dlish Scraps.

Here is my take: 

It was nice to do a clean, flat layout for a change, after having accidents with Distress paint last week and my last 2 layouts are looking rather warped.

And here are a couple of close ups.

I used some homemade felt flowers and you can see my straw frame.

My other cluster featuring a Flair button, a felt flower and a painted wood veneer frame.

A resin button I got in a Dlish Scraps past Just Add Paper kit and a wood veneer star from Freckled Fawn.

And here is the Inspiration Board:

I was mainly inspired by the top right hand picture of straws. I used straws for a frame for my photo. I was also inspired by the colours and by the felt flower in the lower right hand corner.

Scrap Africa sketch challenge no. 25

Despite it being well over 40C outside and probably over 30 C in my scrap room I managed to scrap my second page for the week. Well, it's too hot to do anything outside so why not scrap?!

Just getting this one in before the deadline, I decided to do the Scrap Africa sketch challenge. I've been enjoying playing with Twinkling H2O's recently so used them for the background and again used some Viva Decor stone art texture paste.

Scrap Around The World January Challenge

After not getting around to doing last months challenge  at SATW I managed to get this month completed.

This is a cheeky photo of my daughter buried in the sand by her brother at a local beach.

Here are some close ups. I used the whole Elise flourish and flower set from FWAB. 

I love working with texture paste of all types. This one is from Viva Decor and is called stone art but actually it looks a lot like sand when dry.

Scrap Friends Sketch challenge #21

Good evening. Hope you're managing to keep cool if you're in the areas of Australia experiencing the heat at the moment.

Today I have my interpretation of the current Scrap Friends Sketch challenge. I love the sketches but don't always find the chance to take part.

I have done another layout featuring a photo from our Christmas Day photo shoot and Glitz Design Finnley. This time it's of DH and me.

CSI #104

I just loved the colour palette last week at CSI so had to give it a go. I didn't manage to get any done last month. My entry didn't really end up like what I had intended. I went into it intending to use up some Echo Park or Fancy Pants that have similar colour schemes. At one point I had no patterned paper on the page and ended up only using a bit for the clouds and the frames! I stenciled the damask shape using Distress Ink. There is light blue paper ribbon from Basic Grey and washi tape adhered to card and then punched. I also gave my stamps a good work out. The heart and lace are from Kaisercraft and the yellow mesh like stamp is from Prima.

My evidence was: frames, damask, hearts, alphabet and ribbon.

My testimony was frame my journalling and use five- what, where, why, who and what for my journalling.
