White with 1 July challenge

I've managed to get another layout done before the end of the month. Would still like to get another couple done but I think I'm fighting off the flu. DH had it all last week and I haven't been feeling 100% for a few days.

Anyway, this is for White with 1. The challenge this month was to use white with navy and arrows.

The photo is of my DD ready for her first day at school with her big brother.

Scrap the Girls July challenge

The challenge over at Scrap the Girls this month is to scrap a page using the quote "How sweet it is to be loved by you".

I ended up scrapping another photo from Mother's Day this year as I ended up with so many nice ones of me and the kids. For this one I have used Fancy Pants What a Wonderful Day collection. I added a homemade felt flower and some cork clouds from The Trinket Track.

Off to try and get some more challenges done before the end of the month.

Show us your stuff July challenge

This months challenge at Show Us Your Stuff was to scrap a wintery page and of course add something homemade.

This is my take on the challenge. I have used a photo of the kids visiting Mount Cook taken on our NZ holiday back in 2006.

My handmade items are the bottletop embellishments which I created myself along with the snowflake embellishment.

For my background I used a Studio Calico template and some texture paste and when dry added kinderglitz.

 The two colours of the FWAB Jasmine Puffy Flourish – White and the FWAB Chloe Pearl Flourish – Baby Blue  went so well together to create a wintery feel to the page.

Scrap the Boys July Challenge

The challenge at Scrap the Boys this month is to scrap a black and white head shot of your boy.

This isn't too flattering a shot but shows his teeth when he first got braces - 2 and a half years ago, He still has them but is close to getting them off.

I created a background with three stencils and black, silver and blue ink. I added some blotches of glimmermist. Then I layered some metallic patterned papers, some silver metallic die cuts form LYB and some metal fly screen and some washi tape and silver embossed WOW chipboard.

Finished off with some stickers from LYB, metal washers, Prima black rhinestone chevrons and stamped a couple of arrows.

Shabby sunflowers and cork from The Trinket Track

Just sharing  a layout and I card I recently made using the wonderful shabby sunflowers and cork frames available at The Trinket Track now.

For my first project I used the sketch over at Annas Craft Cupboard as my basis. This is one of the first photos shoots I had done of my DS, when he was about 18 months. I've been on the look out for some sunflowers to coordinate with the sunflowers in the photo for ages so was delighted when Monica got some into the shop.

I have tried to create a visual triangle by creating 3 similar clusters of embellishments.

Here you can see the shabby sunflower and a different coconut button.

Here's another close up of the sunflower, along with a coconut button, cork frame and filegree windmill petal which I have tucked in behind the sunflower.

My second project was a card using similar embellishments. I again used the shabby sunflower and placed it between two cork frames.

Monica also sent me some flower pins so I decided to make my own tricket pin by added an acrylic heart, some metal beads and a glass pearl. 

I tucked the pin into the shabby sunflower and added a few beaded white sprays. 

I  added a few more trinkets including a coconut button, a resin curly rose and some metal filegree pieces.
