Scrap the Girls May challenge

When I saw the May challenge at Scrap the Girls I thought I have to do this one. It is a quote challenge - to include the quote 'A smile is the best makeup a girl can wear'. 

As a person who doesn't wear make up this is something I strongly believe in and something I am trying to instil in my teenage daughter.

So this is a photo of me wearing just a smile on my face, taken by my son on Mother's Day.

I have used some strips of Lily Bee pp, along with some strips of washi tape. Loving the stripey thing at the moment. I added some stamping with Kaisercraft background stamps in 2 colours, some Manor House flowers, Studio Calico and Freckled Fawn wood veneer, and alphas from Fancy Pants Park Bench and some thickers.

Bliss

I have been wanting to scrap a page using Simple Stories Vintage Bliss for a while now and it feels so good to get it out of my system. I had toyed with using black and white photo/s but then I found this photo of Eleanor when she was a couple of months old and the pink matched the pink of the collection. I gathered together some matching flowers and made a few of my own (layering old mulberry paper ones and added some bling) and voila her is my layout.

It is for Scrap Africa Challenge #17 Chipboard Challenge. I used a piece of WOW chicken wire and butterfly chipboard

I used a Martha Stewart punch to create a doily border along my 3 pieces of colours pp and also punched out some butterflies.

CSI #73 and Scrap Your Story #13

I loved the colours as soon as I saw them this week for Case File #73 over at CSI and I decided to combine with Challenge #13 over at Scrap Your Story which was to use mixed alphas for your title.

Scrapbook Savvy May Sketch

Good morning. It's a beautiful sunny day here in Victoria. Today I have my take on the Scrapbook Savvy May Sketch to share.

This photo was taken on Mothers Day, a couple of weeks ago. My Mother's Day wish was for some decent photos with my daughter actually posing/smiling at the camera!

I have used a mix of Lily Bee pp and lots of handmade embellishments. There are a hand dyed doily by me, a doily from Purple Pumpkin, a PP chevron flair button, a butterfly bottletop and ribbon rose from a kit I got from  D-lish Scraps and the today journal spot and day banner comes from {scrAp this}

The Scrapbook Store May Sketch

Good morning. Today I have a layout to share with you that I did for the sketch challenge over at The Scrapbook Store. The photos are of my son competing in the school swimming competition. I decided to go with the primary colours of the boundaries of the swimming lanes for my colours.  Purple Pumpkin has so many bright embellishments, which is what I love about them.

I have used a PP Blue Swimfast Flair button. This particular one isn't available now but there are a number of swim themed Flair buttons in the shop. I also grounded the embellishment on some red zigzag washi tape.

Here I used an aqua crochet doily for my title base.

Page Maps Sketch Competition

I saw this wonderful sketch on the Simple Stories Blog last week and was delighted to discover that there was actually a competition on PageMaps to create a layout using it. The only added criteria was that you had to feature borders. 

I had originally planned on using two smaller photos as per the sketch but when I printed them out on the home printer the pink was way off so I was left with either one or two 4x6 photos. They say that necessity is the mother of invention so I decided to use one 4x6 and turn the sketch 90 degrees. I think it turned out ok. I used Doodlebug Take Note pp and border stickers for the vertical stripes plus a piece of chevron washi tape.

Scrap Your Story challenge #11 and Frosted Design challenge

In contrast to my last layout I decided to do something more graphic and simple for this one.

It is based on Challenge 11 at Scrap Your Story, which is a sketch challenge. I also combined it with the current challenge at Frosted Designs which was to use black, white and another colour - in my case red.

Here is the sketch I used. I kept pretty much to the sketch but used washi tape for my stripes and a couple of bits of 12 inch border stickers I had left. I used some very old Bella rubon to create the lines around the photos. I replaced the stars with Studio Calico Wood Veneer aeroplanes painted black.
