My Minds Eye Nov Sketch and CSI #98

I had great fun playing along with CSI again this last week. I was having trouble deciding what papers to use when I saw this month's  sketch over at My Minds Eye and thought it would be perfect for the story I wanted to tell about Smidge and it also brought to mind some MME patterned papers that were the perfect colours for this challenge. I used pieces of Lime Twist plus some MME stickers and alphas. 

Added to this I used some Studio Calico wood veneer cats, a wood veneer frame and 2 cork frames from the Trinket Track which I inked using some chalk ink.

The evidence I used from this case file was polka dots, frames and  wood. My testimony was to write as a bedtime story.

I can see myself using this sketch again as I love using multi photos on my layouts and am always looking for new ways to do this.

FWAB full reveal heritage layout

Today I'm sharing my full layout which went up on the FWAB blog last week. The photo on this layout features by Great Great Grandparents with their 12 children and spouses of those that had them at the time. It was taken about 1901. It’s amazing to think that they managed to bring up 12 children to adulthood given the amount of infant and childhood deaths at the time.

To create the layout I used a piece of Bo Bunny Welcome Home patterned paper for my base. I added some green brick stamping and sprayed some Studio Calico Mr Huey Calico spray through a stencil. I then added some dots of texture paste through another stencil and finally sprayed some Lindy’s Stamp Gang Starburst Cattail Copper Brown to give it a bit of a metallic sheen.

Then I built up my layers behind the photo using some more Bo Bunny Welcome Home patterned paper and some die cuts from the same collection. I then added my FWAB goodies – 2 white Maddison flowers, a FWAB Luke Flourish in Bronze and a Chloe Pearl Flourish in Olive Green both of which I cut up into sections to make them go further. I also used a few spare pearls from the Chloe Pearl Flourish to dot around the layout.

Stuck Nov 1st sketch

Good morning. This morning today I have a layout to share with you based on the first sketch over at Stuck?! sketches

This is a layout about my daughters favourite teacher at primary school. with photos taken in Prep and on her last day of primary school.

And some close ups of the Purple Pumpkin goodies used - a yellowcrocheted doily, a blue star button and a small fabric apple button.

Here I used an XL Alphabet fabric button.

FWAB heritage sneak

It's my turn on the FWAB blog this morning.

Here's a sneak of what I have been doing:

CSI Case #97 Tiger Tiger Burning Bright

Hot on the heals of being selected Most Wanted on the last CSI challenge, I have completed Case #97.

I always love Em's sketches and the colour scheme was pretty cool too.

Here is my take on it.

My evidence is: 

pattern background; leaves, wood, chevrons; and something shiny. My testimony was to spread the story across 3 journalling spots. My journalling reads: It is bittersweet watching the tigers at the zoo. On the one hand it is wonderful to get so close to such magnificent and beautiful creatures and the zoos are doing a great job of preserving them. On the other hand, it is so sad that they are such an endangered species and incomprehensible how they can still be under threat from poachers. Let's hope they can be saved!

I used a Crafters Workshop stencil and some texture paste to create the leaves around the photos.

Scrap Around the World November Challenge

I enjoyed doing last months Scrap Around the World challenge and loved the inspiration for this month. Lots of bright colours and  rainbows.

Here is the inspiration board:

I knew as soon as I saw the inspiration board what I wanted to do. My inspiration comes from the rainbow colours and the heart at the bottom right. I thought it would be a good way to showcase the rainbow of colours of embellishments available at The Trinket Track. Every embellishment on here is from The Trinket Track except for the flower shaped sequins, some small resin dots and a couple of bling stars. I had fun creating it but was glad when I'd finished glueing on the 191 embellishments! Just in case you're wondering what I used to glue them on - I used Helmar 450 glue which is a stong fast drying glue.

CSI Challenge #96

It's been a while since I've played along with CSI. I always have good intentions of doing the challenges and often print them off but somehow it has been a few months since I last completed one.
Anyway with a new month I was determined to give the current challenge a go.



I must admit I went a bit over the top with the journalling and it seemed to take over the page a bit.   I created the background using some texture paste mixed with yellow paint and used a dotty stencil from Kaisercraft. I also found some great background stamps languishing in my stash and decided to give them a run out.  Then I built up some layers of paper and included some ribbon.  This page is about my stray cat friend Smudge. After being a constant visitor for 18 months, the last couple she has only been coming every other day if that. Last week she didn't turn up for 4 days and was ravenous (to the point of being a bit scary) when she did turn up on the weekend. Nevertheless, I have a huge soft spot for her and am always thankful when she does turn up.

Now for some close ups.

Here I painted a wooden veneer frames black. Within the frame I created a cluster using a MHC Apple blossom flower, an ornate cameo gold frame, a black resin bitty bloom, a red flower from the resin tone on tone flower mix - formal, a black curly resin rose and a pale yellow resin cameo lilypad. 

Another look at the cluster with some spotty ribbon in the background.

Finally, I used some cheesecloth tape and stamped it using Stazon and it worked pretty well.
