Scrap Your Story Challenge #4

I am really enjoying doing the challenges at Scrap Your Story and have managed to do all 4 so far.
This weeks challenge is technique based and is to use embossing either wet or dry. I ran the blue and green circles through my Cuttlebug and a couple of embossing folders.

This is another layout using Doodlebug Take Note. I love the look of circles cut out of cardstock and patterned paper put behind but unfortunately I don't have a Silhouette machine, yet (I'm contemplating getting one for my birthday next month). So I had to make do with cutting circles out of the cardstock with my old trusty circle cutters from Creative Memories and then cut out bigger circles of pp and c/s and but them behind the white cardstock. I then added a selection of pearls and gems to fill in the white spaces between the circles.

Scrap Us Your Stuff March challenge

Good morning. Hope your weekend is going well. Today I have a page to share with you that I have done for the March challenge at Show Us Your Stuff. The challenge this month was to include the word excite, excited, exciting on your layout. I came across this photo of my daughter whilst gathering together some photos for another page I was doing. She doesn't look too excited about having had her face painted here.
I took my inspiration from the hat she was wearing and the flowery design of the brim.

My handmade items are a load of Purple Pumpkin items and some handmade yellow felt flowers. Here is a close up of the  embellishments I have used - a two tone pink felt flower, a girls at play bottlecap, a yellow ticket, a couple of small blue crochet flowers, a small apple fabric button and some dark pink and white twine and my own felt flowers.

Don't forget the Purple Pumpkin Design Team call finishes today.

Stuck Mar 15th Sketch

Second post for the day. Not bad.
Here is my take on the March 15th Sketch over at Stuck?!

I have used some of the Echo Park All about a boy collection. I have so much Echo Park in my collection that I have scaled down my purchases but couldn't resist this when I saw it in real life. In the end I didn't use as much as I had intended as I caught up with doing chevrons in paint and ink.  I'm also addicted to Studio Calico wood veneer at the moment so used some chevrons and the speech bubble. The alphas are some v v old ones I found languishing at the bottom of a drawer of alphas.

Here is the sketch it is based on. I decided to dispense with the embellies and ramp up the chevrons.

Scrap Your Story Challenge #3

Good afternoon. The weather is a bit wild and rough today. Poor DD has gone on a one day personal development and leadership camp. I think she might be a bit wet and muddy when she gets home.

Today I have a layout for Challenge #3 at Scrap Your Story to share with you. This week the challenge was based on a sketch. Last week, I visited my local scrapbooking store in Ballarat and they had just got in some new Doodlebug paper and accessories. It was lovely and bright and I bought quite a bit. Unfortunately, most of it is very busy and the 2 plain sides of paper didn't really go so I have used a bit of Simple Stories SNAP (the aqua) and just used the bold colours and designs of the Doodlebug sparingly. I also used a SNAP journalling card but cut out the bracket and backed it with Doodlebug paper. I also up lots of my Doodlebug alphas. Singlets had originally been in white but it was difficult to read so swapped it for some Rosa Moka black alphas.
I've wanted to record DD's obsession with singlets for a while. She now has one for every occasion or outfit and this paper seemed the perfect partner for the rainbow of colours that she has.

Here is the sketch that this is based on.

Before I go don't forget that Purple Pumpkin has a Design Team call out at the moment.
Details can be found here
You have until 24th March. Why not give it ago!

Frosted Designs challenge - Up, up and away

I thought I'd join in again with the Frosted Designs challenge this month. The new challenge is Up, up and away - you can use birds, planes, balloons, kites, butterflies etc

I decided to use kites to interpret this challenge. On our family holiday to Broome, way back in 2004  the local community held a family fun day down at the beach on our last day there. The kids had fun joining in. Part of the fun day was the flying of kites, which I have included in my middle photo and used as embellishments.

Scrap Friends Sketch challenge #11

This is a layout I did for the Scrap Friends sketch this month. A couple of weeks back we were driving back from Geelong and came across this expanse of Sunflowers (unfortunately, some were past their best) but I made DH stop the car so I could take some photos.

I have had these Prima sunflower vines in my stash for a while now and had originally planned on using them for another layout but had never got around to it so decided they went perfectly with this.

And here are some close ups showing my Purple Pumpkin goodies. I this one I used a green crocheted doily and tucked in a brown floral fabric button underneath my corrugated cardboard. You can also see some text washi tape behind the doily. I also used a kraft film diecut.

And in this one I have used a wooden printed floral button.
