She's Savvy Feb kit

I was lucky enough to snap up the last She's Savvy kit this month. Scrapbook Savvy has 3 monthly kits - He's Savvy, She's Savvy and We're Savvy crammed full of goodies. This was my first time buying a She's Savvy kit. I loved the colours of this one.


I have to admit though that I'm guilty of buying kits, doing one layout and then leaving the rest of the kit unused. In the spirit of using up more of my stuff, I sat down and did 4 layouts using this kit last week and I still have enough left to get at least 1 maybe layouts out of it.

This is my first layout, which I did for the kit challenge, which was to use large rounded corners, at least 1 circle and use the journalling stamp in the kit. It was Valentine's day so I took some photos of DD with the love of her life - her rabbit Midget.


I decided to use the same criteria for all 4 of my layouts. I love how by changing the background colour you can create a whole different layout using the same kit.

Scrap.biz University Week 3

Well, I've nearly finished week 4 challenges, where has the time gone. Anyhow here are the layouts I completed for Week 3.

First elective this week was Midwifery. We had to scrap a layout about someone special who helped us through a pregnancy, birth or weeks after the birth. Extra criteria were to use at least 4 different pp on your layout and to use a card stock sticker (I used 3 for the banner). I did a layout about DH as he was the only one around to help me as all my close family and friends were overseas.


Second elective was food technology. For this we had to scrap a layout about what you cannot do without in your kitchen. Bonus criteria was to include something found in the kitchen. I can't do without my freezer as with a teenage boy in the house who goes through a loaf of bread a day, I need to stock up for when I can't get to the shops.



Final elective for Week 3 was speech pathology. For this we had to scrap a conversation and the bonus criteria was to include at least 2 speech bubbles on your page. I thought it would be nice to record DD's thoughts on starting high school a couple of week ago but she was very indecisive about what her thoughts were!

Scrapz.biz University Week 2

Week 2 got underway with 3 more subjects.
First up was horticulture in which we had to scrap some garden photos and include a frame and at least 6 flowers. I decided to do a double of our veggie patch. This year is the first year we've grown veggies for a while due to the drought and water restrictions. I have used some Cosmo Cricket Together and October Afternoon.



The second subject of the week was Graphics and Computer technology. We had to alter a photo. I used a golden vintage action which I downloaded from the Coffeeshop Blog. I've been wanting to download some actions for a while so this gave me the impetus to have a go. Other criteria were to overlap the title over the photo and include either journalling strips or journal directly on the layout. I used Kaisercraft Up Up and Away.



Finally, we had neonatal science in which we had to scrap a photo of us when we were a baby and for bonus points include various pieces of information such as date of birth, place of birth, and facts about the country we were born in. I used some Girls Paperie pp I'd had for a while. That has been the good thing about this competition. I have been using up some of the vast amounts of pp I have bought but never broken into.

Scrapz.biz University is in

Scrapz.Biz is running a six week 16 course scrap"degree" course. I quite like to do a new challenge at the beginning of the year and liked the look of the first set of subjects so decided to put my name down. I managed to get the first weeks four subjects done over the weekend.

First up is Media Studies. We had to scrap a LO about how reliant we are on modern technology/communications. Extra criteria were to hand draw a border and include a tag. This was the hardest subject for me this week. I had difficulty deciding what to do but once I'd settled on the modem, it all came together quite quickly. I have used some Studio Calico pp and a mixture of journalling tags.



Subject 2 was Behavioural Sciences. For this we had to scrap about the behavioural characteristics of someone and the extra criteria were to include stitching and a punched item on the layout. I did a LO about DD and used Cosmo Cricket Together pp and elements. I punched squares out of the pp.



The third subject was Architecture. For this we had to do a layout about a home we had lived in and the extra criteria was to include over 100 words of journalling. I used some Basic Grey Wander pp. The chippy lamp post seemed to go well with it and I used a flower from the very talented Nadia Cannizzo, which I won from Show Us Your Stuff.



The final subject this week was Genealogy. My favourite. We had to scrap a photo/photos of at least 3 generations of our family. Extra criteria were to include ink/paint splatters and string. I scrapped this photo of 4 generations of my family - my Dad, brother, nephew and grand nephew on the occasion of my nephews marriage.

3 more layouts

Although pretty hot here today I managed to get the January sketch for Handmade by Suzanne done. For these very colourful photos of DD and her acrobatics class dressed up for their concert I used Bo Bunny Sunkissed and a couple of buttons from Purple Pumpkin.



This is a layout I did last weekend for the CC at Scrapboutique using a sketch. Used Bella Boulevard All Inclusive.



Finally, my take on the January sketch over at Anna's Craft Cupboard. This is one of my favourite photos I took of DS last year, just before Chrstmas and a few days after his 14th birthday. I have used some Rosa Moka Mec pps.

Scrap the Girls Jan challenge

Here's my entry for the January Challenge at Scrap the Girls The criteria was to Scrap your favourite summer memories or moments (girls only!). This is another photo of Eleanor taken at the park. Have used various pieces of Sass Lass Count me in. Some homemade fimo clouds and homemade flowers, Jenni Bowlin butterflies, handmade button from Purple Pumpkin and died doily.

Rest of Scrapbook Top 50 Jan CC entries

Here are my other layouts for the other 3 challenges at Scrapbook Top50.

For this first challenge the criteria was to use some lyrics from the Pink song 'Raise your glass' on your layout. I used 'Why so serious'. Other criteria was to use bright colours, doodling and a mixed alpha title. I used pp from Sass Lass Countdown and added some Chip Chop Shop clouds and sun, Jenni Bowlin butterflies, Sass flowers and some ribbon.

For Anthea's challenge we had to scrap a layout about a celebration that took place in 2010, include something red and use more than one photo. I decided on a simple layout and managed to use up some old scrapping goodies, which is always good.

For Sue's challenge we had to scrap a birthday, include meaningful journaling and a party type embellishment and at least one button. I decided to do my sons 6th birthday for which we have absolutely no photos. It's the only one we don't have any for, so I was able to make the journalling the feature. Used some bits and bobs from Scenic Route Surprize pp.
