Frosted Designs challenge - Up, up and away

I thought I'd join in again with the Frosted Designs challenge this month. The new challenge is Up, up and away - you can use birds, planes, balloons, kites, butterflies etc

I decided to use kites to interpret this challenge. On our family holiday to Broome, way back in 2004  the local community held a family fun day down at the beach on our last day there. The kids had fun joining in. Part of the fun day was the flying of kites, which I have included in my middle photo and used as embellishments.

Scrap Friends Sketch challenge #11

This is a layout I did for the Scrap Friends sketch this month. A couple of weeks back we were driving back from Geelong and came across this expanse of Sunflowers (unfortunately, some were past their best) but I made DH stop the car so I could take some photos.

I have had these Prima sunflower vines in my stash for a while now and had originally planned on using them for another layout but had never got around to it so decided they went perfectly with this.

And here are some close ups showing my Purple Pumpkin goodies. I this one I used a green crocheted doily and tucked in a brown floral fabric button underneath my corrugated cardboard. You can also see some text washi tape behind the doily. I also used a kraft film diecut.

And in this one I have used a wooden printed floral button.

Scrap the Boys March Challenge

This month the challenge at Scrap the Boys is a recipe challenge. You must include:
2 Photos 6x4 or smaller
Chipboard
Washi Tape
Mists/Paints

on your layout.

Here is my take on the challenge. I have to admit that it is quite heavily influenced by a class I did with Georgia Heald at the Papercraft Show in Melbourne a couple of weeks ago. (Well the strips of paper with gesso on are.)

I have used 2 photos of my son surfing last year as part of his Outdoor Education course at school. I applied gesso to the strips of paper and flicked some mist on my page. I have a chipboard frame under my photos and a small chipboard sentiment and have used grey spotted washi tape.

Products used:
Fancy Pants Park Bench pp
Fancy Pants The Good Life pp
Echo Park This and That pp
Pink Paislee Portfolio sentiments and tags
Grey spotted washi tape
Studio Calico wood veneer triangles
Scrapmatts chipboard sentiment
Unknown chipboard frame
Dear Lizzy date stamp
Crafters Workshop hexigon mask
Gesso
Cinder Glimmermist
Bisque VersaCube ink
Rosa Moka alphas
Adorn it alphas

Scrap your story Challenge #2

This week the challenge at Scrap Your Story is themed based and is to scrap a page about animals.

I decided to keep with the cat theme of my entry last week.
These are the 2 semi feral cats I feed. They are brothers but from different litters. Smudge adopted Smidge when he was a couple of months old. They are often curled up together when it is cold or are playing and chasing each other around.

I decided to keep it simple so that the focus was on the photos of the cats.

Products used:

Jillibean Soup PP
Kaisercraft pearls
American Crafts thickers
Studio Calico wood veneer cats
Unknown chipboard cat

Once Upon a Sketch Mar Challenge

Good morning. I hope your weekend is going well. Today I have a layout I created for Once Upon a Sketch this month. The theme was to create a page about the weekend.  You had to follow the sketch provided and write some journalling.
I was born and brought up by the sea and beach and it's one thing I miss about where we live in Australia. So I love to go down to the beach at the weekend. Our favourite place to go at the moment is Point Roadknight which is just past Anglesea on the Great Ocean Road. This photo was taken a couple of weekends ago.
With this layout I took the opportunity of having another go with texture paste and used a chevron mask. To add to my background I sprayed two different mists through the chevron mask and added some splodges using Distress Ink and finally stamped used a Kaisercraft texture stamp.

Here is a close up of my cluster which incorporates a few Purple Pumpkin goodies. I have used a couple of pieces of crocheted doilies. I very rarely use a whole doily. I usually cut them in half. I used the other half of the ecru doily in the top cluster. I have also used a lovely satin flower and a couple of blue resin roses.
I have finished the cluster off with some paper flowers, a couple of real shells, a wooden frame and some shell beads.

Here is  close up of my other cluster. In this I have used a natural looking Prima flower and some light blue organza flowers in place of the PP flower and the resin flowers.

Hope the rest of your weekend goes well. If you are in Victoria, hope you are enjoying the long weekend and it's not too hot where you are.

Smudge as a kitten

It's nice to get back to scrapping after a few really busy days. On Saturday, DD and I went to the Scrapbooking Expo in Melbourne. I did a class with the very talented Georgia Heald and also got to sit next to Scrapbooking Memories Master Beck Beattie. I really enjoyed the class and got to do a layout I was really happy with. On Sunday, we all went to the International Air Show at Avalon. It was a beautiful day but maybe a little too hot at times. On Monday, it was back to Melbourne to watch DS in an interschool swimming competition and then Tuesday DS had an appointment at the orthodontist in Ballarat.

Anyway here is a layout I have created for:

Frosted Designs - Chevrons

and

Scrap Your Story - use just 1 photo

This is one of the first photos of my semi adopted feral cat Smudge, when he was still with his mother and siblings. Strange to think that this little cat could turn into the big buffy cat he is now.
I have used:
Teresa Collins - Tell Your Story pp and embellishments
Fancy Pants - The Good Life pp
Scenic Route - Surprize pp
{scrAp this} felt sentiment
Scrap Matts chipboard sentiment
Glitz Designs - washi tape
Kaisercraft - bling
Pink Paislee - Alphas
Doodlebug - Alphas

I managed to use heaps of Purple Pumpkin goodies on this page.
