Scrap the Girls Feb challenge

Hi, I'm here with some last minute scrapping for this month. I decided to have a go at Scrap the Girls February challenge which was based on a sketch. Did this layout in less than an hour.
Here's my take:

I have used Echo Park For the Record 2 and had my second foray into texture paste, though it is difficult to see in the photo. I also used some embellishments from a recent Just Add Paper D-lish Scraps kit.

Here is the sketch that my layout is based upon.

Scrapbook Savvy Feb Sketch

Recently I bought some Seen and Noted by Pebbles and couldn't wait to use some so I hunted around for a photo to match the colours of the papers and came upon this one of DH when he was aged 2 and lived back in the UK.  I have also used some lovely embellishments from {scrAp this} (the red arrow, the teal felt arrow, snapshots sentiment, and the documented tab (to which I added the red stitching)). I also added a few Studio Calico wood veneer embellishments and a Lil Red Rocket button.

Here is the Scrapbook Savvy February sketch  which I used for inspiration.

The Studio Challenges Feb 17th

The latest challenge at the Studio Challenges  is to create a layout  using no patterned paper and to use washi tape.

At one time I think I would have found this difficult to do but today with the mass abundance of washi tape and other non paper embellishments it is easy.
I began by stamping a gridded background stamp around where my photos were to do and then flicked some red and black ink/mist. I had all these ideas of doing stripes of washi tape but when I put a frame of washi tape around my photos I thought that looked good as it was. I added a couple of strips of washi tape to the top corner. I also stuck some washi tape to some white cardstock and used some die cuts to produce the chevron shape and the star under the button. A couple of Purple Pumpkin embellishments finished it off a treat.

Here's some close ups. Here I used a clown fabric button.

And here I used a pirate button round.

Just because....

Today I have a just because layout to share with you that I did for Purple Pumpkin. My mojo has been a bit lacking of late. Things have been very hectic there. DH found out he was being retrenched about 10 days ago. Luckily he has managed to secure a temporary job starting tomorrow.  So I just decided to scrap a photo I liked for the fun of it.
The photo I have used is one I only recently discovered on a CD from many years ago which also held missing photos of my sons 6th birthday party. (He is now 16!). This layout features one of my favourite colour combinations - red and black. I have used a giant playing card which I received in a recent Purple Pumpkin boy goodie bag. I cut the card up to make it even bigger, strategically placing pieces of patterned paper over the gaps/joins. This is a good tip for making things go further.

Here are some close ups of my clusters using some Purple Pumpkin goodies.
In this one I used a black vinyl cog and a pirate felt round.

In this cluster I have used 2 types of washi tape, a black vinyl heart and a red spotty button.

Scrap the Boys Feb Challenge

This month the challenge over at Scrap the Boys was to take a photo of you and your son and create a 'boy' inspired love layout.

This is a photo of DS and me on the way back from a day trip out to Melbourne. My journalling reads 'He may be taller than me now but I have no less LOVE 4 MY SON than the day he was born.
I had some Sassafras Amplify out for the last layout I did but didn't end up using it so decided to go with it for this layout. Tried to grunge it up a bit with some stamping and misting and ink spots.

Scrapabilities Sketch #84

Good afternoon. Hope you're having a good weekend. I managed to get some scrapping done yesterday and came up with this layout for the Scrapabilities Sketch #84 which can be found here
I often print these sketches off with the best of intentions of doing them but this is actually my first entry.
My teenage son is very much into computers and saved all his money to buy some components to build a computer. He had watched all the YouTube videos etc and it only took him a couple of hours to put it all together, if that, and everything worked fine. (Much to our relief).
He actually wanted me to take some photos! I had a play around in Picasa and altered the 4 below using the Holga-ish effect. I ended up using no patterned paper on this one. I wanted to keep it fairly neutral and then add a few pops of colour. So I have used some Little Yellow Bicycle silver cog lace cut cardstock form the Generation collection, some ancient silver Pink Paislee rubons and some silver washers. For my colour I used some Purple Pumpkin embellishments.

Each set consisted of a vinyl cog, a spotty button and a flag using washi tape and I found some appropriate word stickers.

Purple Pumpkin Feb Sketch

It's February!!!
So it's time for another Purple Pumpkin sketch.
Here is the sketch designed by Debbie.

And here is my take. Seeing as it is the month of love I decided to use this as my theme.
I again managed to use up some old pp, more Crate Paper. This time Emma's Shoppe. I love this collection and have used it for other layouts.

Now for some close ups of my Purple Pumpkin goodies.
In this first one I have used this gorgeous ribbon flower, a vintage girl fabric button, a small pink floral button and a resin rose.

I have used a cute red heart fabric button in my title and placed some mini wooden heart buttons down the side of my photo.

Finally, I used a metal flair button as an embellishment near the top of my layout.

You have until the end of the month to complete this Sketch Challenge and link it up in our sidebar by midnight 28th of February 2013. There will be two fabulous Purple Pumpkin prize packs to give away - one winner will be chosen by the design team, and the second will be a random prize draw.
